Paul Carson
Chair

Paul Carson is Hockey Canada's Vice President of Hockey Development. His day-to-day activities include the supervision of all grassroots programming initiatives for coaching, officiating, risk and safety, and player development programs. Along with these programming components, Paul also oversees the operations of three Hockey Canada Regional Centre offices in Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal. He has played an integral role in the development of the Hockey Canada Skills Camps and Skills Combine, and the National Coach Mentorship Program. Paul also led the development of the Hockey Canada Skills Manuals, the Skills of Gold video series, and was instrumental in the design and implementation of the Hockey Canada Skills Academy Program, a cooperative effort to deliver a hockey curriculum in schools across Canada. A former physical education teacher and school administrator, he is a High Performance 1 NCCP certified coach in hockey. Paul also serves as the co-chair of the Hockey Development committee for the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).


Gail Donohue, ChPC
Vice-chair and High Performance Coach Member

Gail Donohue brings more than 15 years of progressive experience in all phases of sport development from local to international levels as an administrator, coach, and former athlete. An NCCP Master Learning Facilitator, Gail coached the New Zealand synchronized swimming team at the 1984 Olympic and is a former Coaches of Canada’s board vice president.


 

Janice Dawson, ChPC
National Sport Organization Member

Janice is the Director of Sport Development with Speed Skating Canada, responsible for coaching education, national competitions, and the hosting of international events. In this role, she successfully managed the development of the Competition-Development context for speed skating. Janice has done NCCP course work in a number of sports, is a Level 3 certified speed skating coach, a trained Learning Facilitator, and a Chartered Professional Coach (ChPC). She was previously the head coach for the National Women’s Goalball Team from 2006-2013 and a recipient of the Petro-Canada Coaching Excellence Award in 2006.


Sarah Junkin
Community Representative

Sarah Junkin is the Run Jump Throw Wheel Program Coordinator for Saskatchewan Athletics. She is also a community and provincial team coach, a sport and database administrator for Respect in Sport, and an NCCP Master Coach Developer. Sarah boasts a strong resume of track and field accomplishments, including an eleven-time first team CIS All-Canadian, and a member of three-time CIS Women’s National Championships teams. She wishes to be part of the next wave of change and vision for coaching in Canada through authentic leadership and partnerships that are collaborative and meaningful. 

 


Sherry Robertson, ChPC
National Sport Organization Member

For over a decade, Sherry Robertson coached the Canadian National Synchronized Swimming Team to podium performances at major international competitions, including Pan American Games, Commonwealth Games, World Championships, and was an apprentice coach at the 2000 Summer Olympics. As a Registered Dietitian and a Chartered Professional coach (ChPC), she has been providing nutritional counseling and presentations for national teams and individual athletes in a variety of sports as well as specializing in clinical eating disorders. Sherry’s role in coaching is now that of a Coach Developer and was the recipient of the 2015 Investors Group National NCCP Coach Developer Award.


Manon Landry Ouellette
Provincial/Territorial Coaching and Sport Leadership Council Representative

Manon has been the Executive Director of Coach NB (formerly the Centre for Coaching Education of New Brunswick) since June of 2006. Prior to this she was the Executive Director of Skate Canada New Brunswick. Manon has been involved in the sport of figure skating as an athlete, coach, and volunteer and is currently part of the coaching staff at the Capital City Skating Club in Fredericton. She is a NCCP Primary STARSkate Certified Coach.


Bill Greenlaw
Provincial/Territorial Government Representative

Bill Greenlaw is the Executive Director for Communities, Sport and Recreation, a division of the Nova Scotia Department of Communities Culture and Heritage. He represented Canada as head swimming coach at the 1996 Atlanta Summer Paralympics and was a member of the National Committee that oversaw the integration of athletes with a disability into Swimming Canada. In April 2012, Bill was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.


Eric Sinker
Provincial/Territorial Coaching and Sport Leadership Council Representative

Eric Sinker is the Coaching and Leadership Development Manager with ViaSport BC. He is a Master Learning Facilitator for NCCP Fundamental Movement Skills workshops and he has trained Learning Facilitators and community leaders all over BC. Eric was part of the Team BC Mission Staff for the North American Indigenous Games in Regina (2014) where BC won the Overall Team Title and the John Fletcher Spirit Award. He is a former varsity baseball pitcher who became a pitching coach for Pee-Wee and Midget teams and was also an instructor at the Power Zone Academy in Abbotsford.


Elise Marcotte
Athlete Member

Elise Marcotte is Marketing and Communications Manager at Game Plan, a program that supports national team athletes in living better lives during their high-performance career and beyond. She is a two-time Olympian, competing at the 2008 Summer Olympics (Beijing) and the 2012 Summer Olympics (London) in the sport of synchronized swimming. She also won two gold medals at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara. Elise is a certified NCCP coach in the Competition-Development context for synchronized swimming.


Monica Lockie
National Sport Organization Member

Monica is the National Performance Centre Director for Skate Canada and currently oversees operations for the Toronto, Calgary, Montreal, and Atlantic centres. A coach for over 30 years in the sport of figure skating, Monica has worked with athletes from grassroots to national level. As a consultant and developer of Skate Canada’s coaching programs, Monica helps develop new manuals, resource tools, and coach education materials for all Skate Canada NCCP programs. Monica’s passion for coach education has led her to become a Master Learning Facilitator and Master Evaluator for Skate Canada. Monica served on the Skate Canada Board of Directors for 9 years and was the chair of the National Coaches Development Committee for 10 years.


 

Kerry Mummery
Canadian Council of University Physical Education and Kinesiology Administrators (CCUPEKA) Representative

Kerry is currently Dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Alberta. He previously spent more than 13 years in Australia, most recently as Executive Dean and Pro-Vice Chancellor at Central Queensland University and president-elect for Sports Medicine Australia, the country’s peak professional body for sport medicine and sport science.

Mummery boasts an extensive background in coaching with 21 years spent on the pool deck as a competitive swimming coach. After completing his career as an interuniversity swimmer at the University of Manitoba in the early 1970s, he served as head coach for the Saskatoon Goldfin Swim Club in Saskatchewan, the Oakville Aquatic Club in Ontario, and the Leduc Otter Swim in Alberta. Mummery has also served as head coach for the Saskatchewan Canada and Western Canada Games teams, chair of the Saskatchewan Swim Coaches Association and was twice named to the Canadian National Youth Swimming Team coaching staff in the 1980s. Kerry is currently a board member for Swimming Canada.


Daniel Domitrovic
Member-at-Large

A High Performance hockey coach and NCCP Coach Mentor, Daniel is an enthusiastic coach and actively seeks opportunities to give back to the grassroots and elite level in his community. His background in coaching, player and coach evaluation, and clinic / workshop facilitation combined with a keen interest and commitment to both athlete and coach development has him sought out as an advisor on various developmental and strategic initiatives. A strong proponent of the Long-term Athlete Development Model, to compliment his teaching and coaching, he has developed educational, instructional, and developmental Player and Parent guidebooks.


Ranil Sonnadara, ChPC
Member-at-Large

Ranil Sonnadara is a behavioural neuroscientist and research computing specialist at McMaster University where his lab studies, amongst other things, skill acquisition, and the implementation of proficiency-based models of training and evaluation. Ranil is also an experienced fencing coach, whose coaching career includes several world championships and major games. He has been involved with the sport for over 25 years, and is currently a referee, Master Learning Facilitator, and Master Evaluator. In his spare time Ranil is the head coach of the Westdale Fencing Club.
