Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility
Business success isn’t just about numbers—it’s about doing the right things for the right reasons.
Our commitment to corporate sustainability and responsibility is focused on ensuring our operations protect the environment and people, conducting our business with the highest level of integrity, building a supportive and inclusive workplace, and contributing to the communities where we live and work. Our entire organization is focused on these four priority areas with clear measures to track our progress. And to make sure we stay at the forefront of CSR practices, an advisory council of prominent Canadian experts in the fields of human rights, corruption and climate change provides us with advice and guidance.

We understand that there are environmental and social risks in the businesses we support, which is why we have strong procedures to identify and reduce potential negative impacts. We also use our expertise to help Canadian companies improve their environmental and social performance, helping them compete and win in the global marketplace.
Navigating the complexities of international business is one thing; doing it in a way that avoids bribery and corruption is an even greater challenge. EDC’s business integrity team responds to the needs of Canadian companies grappling with these issues—many of whom may not understand the impact corruption can have on their businesses and what they can do about it.

We don’t leave diversity to chance. Our recruitment process uses an outreach network that includes diverse talent from aboriginal people, people with disabilities, visible minorities, women and internationally trained professionals. Our diversity strengthens our ability to support Canadian exporters at home and abroad.
From our employee volunteer day to supporting women and aboriginal business communities, we believe that giving back matters.
Learn more about Our communities
Every year, four of our employees spend four months at CARE offices around the world providing their expertise to CARE’s Enterprise and Economic Development Program. This helps small enterprises and communities in places like Zambia and Peru.
Today, as I look back at the last four months, I'm grateful to be working for an organization like EDC which believes in CARE's mission. I'm hopeful for the future and a world with justice and equality. I'm also hopeful that in my short stay I contributed to CARE's mission and perhaps was able to leave something that will strengthen the organization in the future.
