FAQs

Where is this service available?

Anywhere in Canada. A videoconference via Skype may be an option if a senator is unavailable to travel to your location.

How much does this cost?

There is no cost to schools, teachers or organizers associated with this service.

How much in advance should I ask for a senator to visit my school, campus or event?

We ask for a minimum of 4 weeks prior to the date of the visit to process your request. You can fill the form as early as you’d like.

Once the event is settled, what can I expect?

You will receive a scenario with all the details of the proposed event and will be contacted to ensure everything is set prior to the event. However, keep in mind that even when a date is confirmed, the nature of parliamentary work may sometimes means that a visit will need to be cancelled or rescheduled at the last minute.

How do I prepare for the senator’s visit?

We have briefing materials, booklets and activities available for teachers and students to help you in your own preparation.

Can I take pictures at the event?

Yes, you are welcome to take pictures of senators during a visit. You can also share them on social media. Our handle is @SenateCA and our hashtags are #SenCA #SENgage.
