Foreign control in the Canadian economy, 2017
Both Canadian (+5.3%) and foreign-controlled (+2.8%) asset values increased in 2017. The foreign-controlled share of assets decreased marginally, from 16.3% in 2016 to 15.9% in 2017.

Building permits, July 2019
The value of building permits issued by Canadian municipalities rose 3.0% to $8.3 billion in July, largely due to increases in multi-family and commercial permits.

Labour Force Survey, August 2019
Following three consecutive months of little change, employment increased by 81,000 in August, largely in part-time work. The unemployment rate remained at 5.7% as more people participated in the labour market.

Canadian international merchandise trade, July 2019
After a strong decline in imports and exports in June, imports rose 1.2% in July, while exports fell 0.9%. As a result, Canada's merchandise trade balance with the world went from an essentially balanced position in June to a $1.1 billion deficit in July.
