Info Source: Sources of Federal Government and Employee Information provides information about the functions, programs, activities and related information holdings of government institutions subject to the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act. It provides individuals and employees of the government (current and former) with relevant information to access personal information about themselves held by government institutions subject to the Privacy Act and to exercise their rights under the Privacy Act

Human resources management services
Background
The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) facilitates the development and use of national and international standards and accreditation services to enhance Canada's competitiveness and social well-being. The SCC's governing legislation is the Standards Council of Canada Act. The SCC is a federal Crown corporation that was established in 1970 by an Act of Parliament to promote efficient and effective voluntary standardization in Canada. SCC’s governing Council and Chairperson are appointed by the federal government and reports to Parliament through the Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada.
Responsibilities
The SCC is a federal Crown corporation with a mandate to promote efficient and effective standardization in Canada. The SCC coordinates the work of individuals involved in the development and application of standards, and of independent organizations accredited by the Standards Council to provide services related to standards development, certification, testing, quality systems registration and environmental systems registration.

Standards and International Relations
Through analysis of standardization-related trends, its outreach and strategic engagement directed at key government, industry, and consumer stakeholders, the Standards and International Relations branch helps stakeholders realize their strategic priorities and goals; makes recommendations that influence their use of standards and conformity assessment-related aspects translating into increased efficiency and cost savings, enhanced competitiveness, reduced barriers to trade, and increased global market access. The branch works closely with its key stakeholders to identify and define the necessary conditions for Canada to optimize its use of standardization. The branch also manages the development of National Standards of Canada and the adoption of international standards for the Canadian marketplace. It is also facilitates the participation of its key stakeholders as Canadian experts engaged in the standards development activities of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), as well as participation in regional standards organizations.

Description: Information on various standards activities being undertaken by the Standards Council of Canada.

Description: Information about the Awards programs maintained by the SCC. Standard Council of Canada (SCC) Awards
Description: This bank describes information on the management of the SCC Awards Program, including, but not limited to the Corporate Commitment Award, SCC Award of Excellence, McMahon Dedicated Service Award, SCC Distinguished Service Award, SCC Leadership Award, SCC Special Achievement Award, The Jean P. Carrière Award, and/or The Roy A. Phillips Award. The personal information collected for the nominee includes: name, organization, address, and telephone number. The nominator must include name, title, organization, address, telephone number and e-mail address. As part of the nomination submission, the nominator must include an overview of the nominee's contributions, curriculum vitae or relevant committee profile, as well as two letters of support citing one or more specific examples of the Nominee's committee accomplishments. The overview describes the nominee's contributions to the development, promotion or implementation of standards, or a combination of all three, including: service in technical committee work or other standardization work; leadership in technical, administrative, or special committee activities in government, industry, standards organizations, consumer organizations; and/or; outstanding activity or service that has particularly advanced the prestige of standardization; notable contributions that have benefited Canadian standardization, either nationally or internationally; approximate number of years over which their service to the Canada’s standards network extends; two letters of support citing one or more specific examples of the nominee's committee work accomplishments; awards and honours received; membership in professional organizations, including offices held; and any other information considered relevant to the nomination. The "curriculum vitae" or relevant committee profile may include but is not limited to the nominee's: career profile, work history, education, professional development memberships or affiliations, publications and/or any other personal information which they choose to include in their curriculum vitae. This information is sometimes collected for committee members.
Class of Individuals: Individuals who nominate and/or are nominated for any of the SCC Awards.
Purpose: The information is used to select the winners of each of the Awards based upon pre-established criteria and to communicate with these individuals throughout the Awards process. After an awards ceremony, award recipient's name, photograph and description of their work is posted on SCC's web site. A press release announcing award recipient is also posted on SCC's web site.
Consistent Uses: There are no other uses associated with this data.
Retention and Disposal Standards: The records will be maintained for 7 years from the date the nomination is received and then destroyed.

The Accreditation Services branch provides accreditation services to various customers, including SDOs, product certifiers, management system certifiers, greenhouse gas verifiers and validators, personnel certifiers and testing laboratories. SCC is also a signatory to several Mutual Recognition Agreements and Multilateral Agreements with international accreditation forums that foster the acceptance of one standard – one test accepted everywhere. These forums have been created by accreditation bodies around the world to assist with international acceptance of conformity assessment results. These agreements are part of greater efforts to form a global accreditation system.
