• • How much is my coin worth?

  • While the coin may have gained value over the years, the coin must be appraised or evaluated. Unfortunately, the Mint does not offer services of coin evaluation or appraisal. May we suggest that you consult coin dealers to help determine the value of the coin. To find a dealer near you, use our Dealer Locator tool:

    In addition, you can check the Yellow Pages to find a coin dealer in your area. You can visit the Canadian Numismatic Association website for a list of dealers and other coin-related resources.

    Please note that to find the values of older coins, you may wish to procure a price guide. Price guides can be procured from select Canada Post outlets, coin dealers (you can find a coin dealer in the Yellow Pages under coins) or you can borrow a copy from your local library. Popular titles include the Coins of Canada by James Haxby and the Charlton Standard Catalogue of Canadian Coins.

  • Where can I find/how can I buy circulation coins?

  • The Royal Canadian Mint produces Canadian circulation coins in response to demands established by the markets.

    Circulation coins go into circulation through financial institutions. You may wish to request from your bank that they order some of these coins for you through their normal channels. While banks are not obliged to do so, many agree to as a customer service gesture. Please note that it may not be possible to order specific years of circulation coins. Also, you may wish to check with local coin dealers as some stock circulation coins.

  • Can I buy coins from years past from the Mint?

  • Please note that our numismatic products are available for sale for only twelve months from the product launch date. For past year products we suggest that you check with coin dealers. To find a dealer near you, use our Dealer Locator tool:

  • How can I purchase bullion from the Mint?

  • Please note that the Mint does not sell bullion directly to the public; only to distributors who have the infrastructure to sell and buy back bullion to and from the public and manage sales to individual dealers in North America and around the globe. This is also why bullion coins never appear in our catalogues. The retail prices of the coins are based on the international gold and silver market prices which vary daily. A premium is added to these prices to cover manufacturing, transportation and distribution costs. To purchase coins, you can contact a local financial institution and ask for the manager or person responsible for investment services, or see our Bullion DNA Dealer locator page for details.
