Scope of accreditation
The scopes of accreditation include the technical activities included in GHG emissions verification and GHG project validation and verification. They are grouped by:
- Organizational Level Activities (Emissions), in the case of verification bodies, and
- Project Level Activities (Reductions or Removals), for verification and/or validation
Note that organizations can apply for accreditation with SCC as a verifier, a validator, or both.
Verra’s Verified Carbon Standard sub-program
The Standards Council of Canada (SCC) and Verra’s Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program have partnered to offer additional accreditation services for greenhouse gas validation and verification bodies. Under this sub-program, SCC will assess the competency of bodies to perform GHG validation and verification services in conformance to both ISO 14065 and the specific requirements of the VCS Program.
ICAO-CORSIA sub-program
The Standards Council of Canada is working with Transport Canada to develop an accreditation sub-program to support the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA). Accreditation requires conformance to ISO 14065:2013 along with additional requirements stipulated by CORSIA. SCC welcomes inquiries about ICAO-CORSIA accreditation at accreditation@scc.ca. We can accredit organizations based inside or outside Canada.
