Advocating to get opioids off the streets was never something Amy Graves planned to do. But eight years ago, when her brother Josh accidentally overdosed at a party in Berwick, from a lethal mix of alcohol and Dilaudid, she channelled her grief, into action. Amy organised rallies. Launched letter writing campaigns. And started a group called Get Prescription Drugs Off The Street. After eight years fighting for change, Amy announced THAT group will be dissolving.

When you hear the name "John Mullane" you probably think of the band, In Flight Safety. He's the lead singer. John Mullane lives in the North End of Halifax and he says while the nearby Irving Shipyard has brought new jobs to Halifax...it has also brought a parking problem to his neighbourhood. Nova Scotia's Mary Ewing and a whole team of others behind her use art and their sewing talent to bring a bit of light into their lives. Mary is the national president of "Quilts of Valour".
