If you have registered as a premium subscriber, you have access to CBC News Network and can stream any of our on-demand content ad-free. Note that live streams will still contain ads.
If you have a premium subscription but cannot access these features, please follow these steps to confirm your premium subscription:
If you've signed up via the CBC Gem website
If you've signed up via the CBC Gem app on an iOS device
If you've signed up via the CBC Gem app on an Apple TV
If you've signed up via the CBC Gem app on an Android device
If you've signed up via the CBC Gem website
Assuming you are signed in, click on your name located on the top right corner of the page.
Clicking on your name will present you with some new text. Click on My Account.
From here, ensure that your membership type is Premium
If you haven't cancelled your account, you should also see the Cancel Premium button.
If you have confirmed that your Membership Type is showing up as Premium, you should not be able to see any ads when viewing video-on-demand content and you should have access to CBC News Network. Please note that you will still see ads on our live streams.
If your Membership Type appears as Free, you may want to ensure that you are signed in under the correct account. Try logging in again using another email address to see if this helps.
To confirm which email address you used when you signed up for your premium subscription, check your email inboxes. You would have received a welcome email from CBC with the subject "You've signed up for Premium". The address that this message was sent to will be the one associated with your premium subscription.

If you've signed up via the CBC Gem app on an iOS device
While in the CBC Gem app, open the menu located on the top left corner of the screen.
Assuming you are signed in, tap on My Account
From here, ensure that your account type is Premium
If you have confirmed that your Account Type is showing up as Premium, you should not be able to see any ads when viewing video on demand content. You will, however, always see commercials during live content as it is essentially a mirror of what is being broadcast on television.
If your Account Type appears as Free, you may need to restore your purchase through Apple.
Go back to the main menu and log out of your account. You will now see a Restore Purchases option. Tap on it and follow the instructions provided. This should restore your premium subscription purchase with Apple.
If this does not restore your purchase and you encounter an error message, there is a possibility that you may be signed in under the wrong account. Try logging in again using another email address to see if this helps.

On your Apple TV go to Settings > Accounts > Manage Subscriptions. When you select the CBC Gem app you should see your account type in the Active section.
If you are not seeing your account type as premium, you may need to restore your purchase through Apple.
Open the CBC Gem app on your Apple TV. From the Log Out screen you will see a restore purchase button. Click on it and follow the instructions provided. This should restore your premium subscription purchase with Apple.
