Heavy police presence on Bay Bulls Road Monday afternoon as RNC tracked suspect

Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers left the area of Bowring Park in west end St. John's shortly after 6 p.m. following a heavy presence as they tracked a suspect.

The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary was out in full force in the area of Bay Bulls Road in St. John's on Monday afternoon as officers tracked a suspect until shortly after 6 p.m.

An RNC spokesperson said the suspect was wanted in relation to an earlier investigation, but would not provide further details on the case.

By 7 p.m. on Monday, police said the investigation was continuing and could not say whether or not a suspect had been arrested. 

The RNC had said to expect heavy police presence in the area of Bay Bulls Road around Bowring Park earlier in the day. 

Members of the public were asked not to report the location of police officers on social media.

The canine unit was also on scene.
