Pipeline Performance Measures
The Commission’s top priorities are the safety of the public and the people who build and operate CER-regulated pipeline facilities and the protection of the environment. The Commission is committed to continual improvement, and to keeping pipelines a safe method of transporting oil and gas.
Notwithstanding the safety record of CER-regulated pipelines, the Commission has noticed an increased trend in the number and severity of incidents being reported by CER-regulated companies in recent years. The Commission is of the view that a reduction in numbers and severity of pipeline incidents depends on actions taken by industry. Therefore, the Commission is introducing new pipeline performance measures to promote continual improvement in the management of pipelines.
