Regulatory and operational phases of a pipeline project

The National Energy Board Onshore Pipeline Regulations (OPR) require companies to have an emergency management program.

A company must develop parts of its emergency management program during the planning, application and construction phases of the pipeline’s lifecycle. Before pipeline construction begins, the company must meet all applicable regulatory requirements, including those prescribed by regulation, such as Canadian Standards Association Z276, Z341, Z662 and Z246.1, and those prescribed by the authorization that allows the pipeline to be constructed.

The company must also have a completed and implemented emergency management program.

We oversee all phases of the project, which includes verifying full implementation and maintenance of the emergency management program and a company’s ability to respond to an emergency during the operating phase.
