Security

Regulating security is another way we take action to protect people and the environment. Companies must develop detailed security programs based on legal requirements. We hold companies accountable for how well they do this.

These programs need to:

• Identify any potential security risks, including criminal or terrorist activity
• Create strategies to prevent them from happening
• Develop plans to respond quickly if they do

In addition to requirements for companies, we also keep people who participate in our hearing safe. This includes people there to participate in the hearing process as well as our staff who are working at the hearings.

We work to promote security awareness and information sharing among regulated companies. We also cooperate with federal, provincial, territorial and international partners.
