Functionalities designed by legal research specialists

A flexible, powerful publishing tool

Decisia automatically converts, indexes and publishes your judgments, decisions, opinions, orders, as well as any other related material, under your organization's brand and visual identity. It adapts to your data structure thanks to a large selection of metadata fields. Decisia is the best option whatever the technology in place, the sophistication of the users, or the volume of decisions your organization produces.

Quick, intelligent searches

Decisia's interfaces and search engine are designed specifically for legal research. Search queries generate on-target search results in a split second, even when searching through millions of documents. And, as with all of Lexum's products, Decisia is packed with a wide range of user-centric features, such as a spelling corrector, auto-completion of queries and highlighting of keywords.

Effortless content updates

Data entry can be completed manually, via web interfaces; partially automated, using Decisia's auto-fill feature; or fully automated, with an API. Decisia’s auto-fill function can retrieve dates, citations, docket numbers, case names and much more directly from the text of your decisions with one simple click. Its API can be used to synchronize data from your existing Court Management System (CMS), document management system (DMS) or any other database.

Integrated into your website

Decisia is skinned to take on the look and feel of your existing website. Furthermore, your Decisia is made accessible under your subdomain, for example, decisions.yourdomain.com.

A secure research space for internal users

Decisia features a secure space providing intranet users and subscribers with privileged access to restricted databases and documents. User groups can be setup, allowing for granular access control of documents. User rights and groups are managed through the web-based administration interface.

Powerful DMS capabilities

Decisia offers an audit trail showing the history of all database records, including any creation, updating and deletion of content. The audit trail contains information about the user involved as well as a time stamp showing when the change occurred.

Current awareness tools

Users can subscribe to RSS feeds or email alerts to receive regular updates about new content added to your Decisia.

Accessible

Decisia is compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 Level AA. WCAG’s guidelines have been incorporated into several regulatory instruments. Decisia lets you give persons with disabilities adequate access to your decisions.

No infrastructure or IT resources at your end

Hosted and supported by Lexum, Decisia does not require any infrastructure or other IT resources at your end. Decisia offers enterprise-level uptime and security while you access and manage your content via user-friendly web-based interfaces.

Quick set-up, including your archives

Judgments of the Supreme Court of Canada

Canada’s first-ever legal website

Lexum has been developing and operating the Supreme Court of Canada decision database since 1993. The database provides free access to all Supreme Court decisions, back to the creation of the Court in 1876, as well as to the electronic versions of the Supreme Court Reports, the Court’s bulletins and news releases. Decisions are made available in MS-Word, HTML, and PDF.  They include the full headnotes prepared by the Court, and are easy to search in full text.

The Supreme Court of Canada decision database receives over 200,000 visits per month and has been powered by Decisia since 2012.
