Library Resource Sharing

To evolve as a research facility for the digital age, the Supreme Court Library is emphasizing effective use of electronic networks to expand traditional resources. This goal can be accomplished in part through formal resource sharing agreements which allow libraries to concentrate on core areas, and build a network of interdependent collections, coordinated by shared electronic catalogues and supported by high speed document delivery systems.

For purposes of resource sharing with federal libraries with law collections in the National Capital Region, the Supreme Court Library has agreed to maintain collection strengths in the following areas:

Federal Library Resource Sharing Partners

Arrangements to adapt collection development and library policies to accommodate sharing of resources have been made with the following federal libraries in the National Capital Region.

Courts Administration Service, Library Services (collections and services are open only to Federal Court judges and personnel, and to selected libraries as partners in resource sharing agreements)
Global Affairs Canada Library
Justice Canada Library

National Resource Sharing Partners

The Supreme Court Library has also entered into a resource sharing agreement with each of the provincial and territorial court and law society library systems, consisting of reciprocal interlibrary loan arrangements between partners. Under the agreement, interlibrary loans for items not locally available should be arranged through your provincial system. Please make delivery arrangements through the contacts listed below.
