Case Management

During pre-hearing case management, the Tribunal helps the parties prepare for their hearing.

The case management process involves:

  • filing documents with the Tribunal outlining the facts, legal issues and solutions (remedies) sought; and
  • identifying documents and witnesses that will be used at the hearing.

Ultimately, the goal of pre-hearing case management is to help the parties organize their evidence and reduce the time required for the hearing itself.

What happens during a case management conference call?

During a case management conference call, the Member of the Tribunal who will be hearing the case will discuss with the parties any outstanding issues requiring the Tribunal‘s involvement, and may encourage the parties to make admissions and reach agreements on various issues. The Member can also establish schedules and deadlines for the parties to provide the Tribunal with information.
