Collaboration between Federal Research Funding Organizations

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) are federal granting agencies that support research, research training and innovation in Canadian postsecondary institutions. The Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) is a federally funded organization that enables this research, training and innovation through investments in state-of-the-art infrastructure. Working in close collaboration, CIHR, NSERC, SSHRC, and CFI invest in talented people, research excellence and infrastructure, and facilitate knowledge translation and mobilization to help foster a culture of social and commercial innovation. Together, they enable the creation of research partnerships and the sharing of knowledge between universities, colleges and the private sector. The organizations also provide leadership for Canada's research community, and work to position the future of Canadian research and innovation internationally - for the benefit of all Canadians.
