She then pursued her teaching career by serving as Assistant Professor (adjunct) from 1997-1999 at the Faculty of Law of Western University.[2] In 1999, she became Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Law at Queen's University, obtaining tenure and advancing to the rank of Associate Professor in 2003.[2] She received a U.S.-Canada Fulbright award in 2005[5] and attended Yale Law School as a Visiting Lecturer in Law (Fall 2005) teaching comparative corporate governance. Politics[edit]

On June 12, 2019, Anita Anand won the Liberal nomination for the riding of Oakville, Ontario, beating former MPP Kevin Flynn[8] and lawyer Tamur Shah.[9] On October 21, 2019, Anand won the riding of Oakville with 28,668 votes with 237 of 248 polls reporting. Her closest competitor, Conservative candidate Terence Young, had 24,046 votes while NDP candidate Jerome Adamo got 4,807 votes, the Green party's James Elwick received 3,459 votes and PPC candidate JD Meaney got 765 votes. Anand took an early, but slim, lead after the polls closed in Oakville with 145 votes to Young's 139 after two polls reported in at 10 p.m. on Election Day. As the evening continued this lead grew until it was clear that Young would not be able to catch her.“I want to say that this is not my victory. This is our collective victory,” said Anand to her team at the Bronte Sports Kitchen.“It was my goal to run a positive, collaborative campaign. That’s exactly what we did. We kept the message positive at the doors. We didn’t speak negatively about our opponents. We spoke about the platform. We spoke about what we wanted to do together for this riding and for this country.”

Anand will represent Oakville in the House of Commons in the 43rd Canadian Parliament.
