Radio and television alerts
Emergency messages and instructions will interrupt radio and television broadcasts using the national AlertReady system. Local media will receive information to broadcast.
Wireless alerts
Emergency alerts can be sent to wireless devices, such as smartphones. Emergency alerts are issued to a defined geographic area so only people in the area will receive the alert. Check if your device is compatible with wireless public alerting and learn about the service at AlertReady.ca.
In your city or community
The tools used to communicate emergency updates in person will depend on type of emergency and where it is located. These tools include loud speakers, information posters and community meetings.
