Message for Team Yukon on cancellation of Arctic Winter Games

March 8, 2020

To all Team Yukon participants and supporters,

Our thoughts remain with you as we all continue to process yesterday’s announcement to cancel the 2020 Arctic Winter Games. We know how much time, effort and commitment each of you put in towards becoming a part of Team Yukon and we share in the disappointment, frustration and sadness you are feeling.

As hard though as this decision was to hear, given the information provided to us, it is one we support. We know it wasn’t an easy decision for the Chief Medical Officer, the Government of Yukon, City of Whitehorse and the Host Society to make. We also recognize that, given recent international developments and the continued unknowns around the COVID-19 virus, it was a decision made with all our best interests in mind.

As we shared with you via email yesterday, we will continue to do our best to support all of you going forward. Over the coming days, we will continue to have more discussion and we will keep your mission staff informed. We will also continue to keep our social media up-to-date. If you do have questions, please feel free to reach out to your mission staff or us personally.

Also please know that you remain a part of Team Yukon! This means your uniforms are yours and we will still continue with the uniform exchanges as previously scheduled at Sport Yukon.

Sincerely,

Trevor, Lucy and Megan
