Pacific: Partners effectively coordinate for the COVID-19 response
Humanitarian and development partners have established a joint Incident Management Team (IMT) to support COVID-19 preparedness and response efforts in the Pacific. This coordination mechanism has successfully leveraged partners’ capacities and resources, and continues to coordinate their actions to ensure that effective support is provided to national authorities and the affected population.
Burkina Faso: Partners reopen essential health facilities
Over 1 million internally displaced people (IDP) and people in host communities currently have no access to health care due to closure of key health facilities in the Sahel and Centre-Nord regions. Health Cluster partners have demonstrated an exceptional flexibility to ensure the delivery of services to vulnerable populations in high-risk areas.
Nigeria: Mobile Health Teams bring health care to communities
The joint efforts of the north-east Nigeria Health Sector partners have enabled mobile medical teams and clinics to deliver services to over 1.2 million people in 2019 and ongoing collaborations continue to increase this number.
Events
Partner Meeting
The GHC Partner Meeting was held on 28-29 March 2019 in Geneva, Switzerland. Partners came together to discuss key learning from the Ebola response in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the cholera response in Yemen, gaps in global response capacity and examples from partners in action to address these gaps. Partners also consulted on the extension of the GHC Strategy 2017-2019 to 2021 and how to strengthen their engagement in the implementation of the 2019 work-plan. The Strategic Advisory Group and Task Teams met the day before to prepare strategic and coordinated inputs for the Partner Meeting.
Health Cluster Coordinator Training
The fifth joint Health Cluster Coordination Training for current and potential Health Cluster Coordinators and Information Management Officers took place in Divonne-Les-Bains, France on 21-29 November 2018.
Health Cluster Forum
The fifth annual Health Cluster Forum was held on 26-28 June 2019 in Geneva, Switzerland. The overall outcomes of the Forum include relations and networks among Health Cluster Coordinators; lessons learnt documented; recommendations formulated to strengthen coordination and improve the health sector humanitarian response.
