Air Canada to lay off 20,000 workers as pandemic collapses travel industry
Air Canada plans to cut its workforce by at least half as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to wreak havoc on travel, according to an internal memo obtained by CBC News. Effective June 7, "approximately 50 to 60 per cent" of the company's 38,000 employees will be laid off, Friday's memo to staff said.

Richmond RCMP say a man who hurled racist taunts at a woman and her mother last weekend has apologized. They’re also acknowledging that communication from the officer who responded to the initial report “could have been better.”
