Arson is a crime. When someone deliberately sets fire to a building, vehicle, etc. they do not own and they want to cause damage, it is called arson. A person who commits arson is an arsonist. Arsonists usually use gasoline or kerosene to start a fire. An accused in the act of arson is generally booked for mischief by fire or explosive substance under the section 435 of Indian penal code,1860 (IPC).
