Richard Lehoux MP (born 1956) is a Canadian politician who was elected to represent the riding of Beauce in the House of Commons of Canada in the 2019 Canadian federal election.[1] He defeated incumbent Maxime Bernier, the leader of the People's Party of Canada.
Personal and professional life[edit]
Lehoux's family has been in the Beauce for eight generations. His great-grandfather served as mayor of Saint-Elzear from 1898 to 1902, and he is a fourth-generation dairy farmer.[2]

Mayor of Saint-Elzéar[edit]
Lehoux was the mayor of Saint-Elzéar, Quebec in the Chaudière-Appalaches region from 1998 to 2017.[3]
President of FQM[edit]
Lehoux was past president of the Fédération québécoise des municipalités for the four years to February 2018. [4]
Candidate for 2019 federal election[edit]
Lehoux stepped down in 2017 to return to his dairy farm, but returned to politics in November 2018 as the Conservative candidate for the 2019 Canadian federal election in the Beauce riding, with the full support (amongst others) of Andrew Scheer.[3] Lehoux was victorious over all comers in the 2019 federal election, unseating incumbent Bernier.[5]
