Add this to the appropriate day subpage, which isn't protected. * Pppery * it has begun... 21:54, 25 December 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Centralizing talk spaces[edit]

This page has 6,200 watchers whereas Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Current events has 38. Should that page redirect here? Or is there some other action that should be taken to better organize/centralize discussion of current events on Wikipedia (things like the invite I made above)? {{u|Sdkb}}talk 01:21, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Sdkb: I would think so to be honest. –MJLTalk 17:04, 3 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Red links[edit]

The Kip (talk · contribs) insists (see here) that red links should not be added on the Current Events portal. Is that indeed the policy? 109.37.142.196 (talk) 22:52, 11 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

US Navy no longer operates F/A-18 Hornet. 103.151.172.33 (talk) 17:52, 13 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Firstly, this error report should be made at Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors#Errors with "In the news" to keep discussion centralized. About the issue itself, the original source of the image didn't seem to mention the model of the aircraft, nor whether it belongs to the Navy or the Marines. I think it looks more like a F/A-18E/F (the current link is to the old Hornet), but obviously I'm not a reliable source. The safest response would be to remove all mention of model and belonging, changing the caption to "US fighter jet taking off prior to the airstrikes".
