His professional football career lasted all of 44 mins and, in any case, WP:FPL is no longer the relevant standard. I am not seeing any evidence of WP:GNG or WP:SPORTBASIC being met. Best sources seem to be Csornai SE, which is not WP:RS, Dunaújváros, a mere squad list mention, and Papa ma, which is trivial match report coverage. Fails GNG and NSONG. BEFORE showed nothing that meets IS RS with SIGCOV addressing the subject (the single) directly and indepth. No objection to a consensus redirect to the album Isola, similar redirects have been rv'd so establishing CONSENSUS needed.  // Timothy :: talk  01:02, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

  • It reached #22 in the Swedish charts, according to Swedish wiki, which doesn't make it sound terribly notable. I think a redirect with merge of anything rescuable from the article would make sense. Chiswick Chap (talk) 10:45, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

This article contains information that cannot be found on Isola and the song reached #22 in the Swedish charts. If the problem is that is reached #22, how about, for example, this R.E.M. single "Oh My Heart" which reached #37 as the highest. Slagmannen924 (talk) 13:28, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Funnily enough, despite it being a blatant WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS argument, it is possible that you have a point and "Oh My Heart" is also non-notable despite charting in multiple countries. Someone should look into that. The problem, though, is that the closest thing to valuable information here which isn't charting is that Hayley Williams likes the song. That's pretty trivial all told, but if you really want to then that can easily be added to Isola, as can the chart. This song, on the other hand, seems very limited in coverage. Unless any of these four sources [1][2][3][4] (all behind paywalls) contain more than passing mentions then I can't find anything and this is an easy redirect to Isola. I've asked on WP:DISCORD for assistance and will update if anything comes through, but in the meantime this can be redirected anyway and restored later if anything else comes up. QuietHere (talk | contributions) 12:32, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
To say that the closest thing to valuable information are that Hayley Williams likes the song is not very serious. One have the track listing both of the Swedish and English version, information about b-sides, the song charted at number 22 in Sweden, pic of the cover, link to the music video and more. An individual National Hockey League playoffs game which does not appear to meet WP:GNG. I found only one reliable source which refers to the game as "Shock at the Rock", which was written by a journalist who follows the team, rather than a widespread name for the game. When this article was in draft space, its merit was debated here. Consensus then did not appear to be in favour of this article, and I have found no new research to support it passing GNG. For example 2022 Billie Jean King Cup Europe/Africa Zone Group I – Pool A and 2022 Billie Jean King Cup Europe/Africa Zone Group I – Pool B, there's even articles for the results of even the lower Groups II and III. There was previous discussion on this matter, with no consensus. I'm re-opening as the article currently has no sources at all. The "article" at https://www.alkistisdimech.com/words/the-witches-dance claims to have been published in The Brazen Vessel, which I could not verify. It is by no means a reliable source, since there is no indication of any editorial oversight. Other sources have been discarded for similar reasons in past discussion.

Given that there is apparently no reporting of this in any reliable sources, the case looks quite clear-cut. Actualcpscm (talk) 12:18, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Perennially unsourced WP:BLP. The only vaguely reliable source I could find in a WP:BEFORE is this The Union story that I'm having trouble accessing, but even if it was excellent and detailed, one source is not sufficient for WP:GNG/WP:NBASIC. Google books doesn't show anything useful at least in the first pages.

Various (self-authored?) bios describe him as grammy awardee etc., but I can't substantiate these claims to any reliable source and suspect the claimed awards were not for him, specifically, but rather some affiliated person/group/project. I thus don't think WP:ANYBIO#1 is met.

The relevant SNG is WP:NMUSIC, which states at WP:BANDMEMBER: Members of notable bands are redirected to the band's article, not given individual articles, unless they have demonstrated individual notability.. WP:BANDMEMBER states articles such as this should be redirected, but I'm not seeing an obvious target. WP:NCOMPOSER similarly states that composers or lyricists with insufficient verifiable material to warrant a reasonably detailed article should be merged into the article about their work. Suggestions welcome. Ljleppan (talk) 07:57, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

The organisation does not meet the relevant notability criteria: it is not inherently notable (WP:ORGSIG), and the coverage (or lack thereof) in reliable sources fails the criteria at WP:SIRS. There is only one source provided in the article, and coverage in that is far from significant (see WP:ORGDEPTH), since the PYO is only ever mentioned in passing. I have not been able to attribute any notable activities or events to the group, so I would argue it is safe to say that the scope of their activities was minimal. This article has sources, but the encyclopedic value about documenting 200 people in a country of 214 million, and also stemming from a country with 100+ million inhabitants, it is incomprehensible to me. Three academic tutors are not the basis of an article either. The sources towards the end of the article largely support trivial information about food or a business venture that doesn't warrant its own article, together with a lack of something to make a dent in Brazilian society or the Vietnamese diaspora as a whole. Some of the word choices are frankly ridiculous as well, e.g. "a wave" of 10 people. Geschichte (talk) 10:51, 15 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

  • Merge to Slovene diaspora as an AtD. Tiny community ~1,500 - 2,000 individuals.[11]. Brief article which is an unneeded CFORK for a small community. Content is unlikely to be found in a stand alone article, but will improve the target article. If someone add multiple refs to the article from IS RS with SIGCOV about Primera Sociedad Eslovena Transmurana de Montevideo, let me know  // Timothy :: talk  07:15, 19 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I respectfully disagree with this suggestion. While Slovene Uruguayans may be a small community, they are a notable cultural community in Uruguay on their own with their unique history and contributions. There are other articles about Slovene diaspora in South America (e.g. Slovene Argentines, Slovene Venezuelans etc.) and they can't all be merged to Slovene diaspora. The scope is too broad. It would be appropriate though to have a standalone article about Slovene communities in South America, which would allow for a comprehensive outline of these communities, with details found at their respective articles. --TadejM my talk 07:52, 19 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I'd support the creation of Slovene communities in South America, I think is a good compromise for this. These articles have very little sourced content, but I think this article would be a good place to develop the article as possible. If there is enough content developed to merit a split, Slovene communities in South America would act as a good WP:SUMMARY and itself would be a sub of Slovene diaspora. @Geschichte:, what do you think?  // Timothy :: talk  08:01, 19 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

  • Comment - The show won 'Best Magazine Format Show' at the Asian Television Awards in 2000, and the host Niret Alva won 'Best Current Affairs or Infotainment Programme Presenter' in 2002, not sure if that was soley for hosting Wheels or through multiple programs. Foreign language sources aren't easiest to search if you don't know where to look, and stuff from 20 years ago even harder. All I found was a Newsbank article (“Spin Doctor.” The Economic Times, 2002.) that mentioned both of these awards. Going to look for more sources but I'd probably lean keep. This article has existed in articlespace since 2012. In 2023, the problems with its unreferenced content, adverted to multiple times, have remained. In my opinion, once that content were stripped away, we would find that this article is verifiably about a veterinarian from The Philippines who is active in philanthropic work, particularly as a Rotarian. What we would not find is that a Wikipedia article that meets any number of tests for notability, starting with the General notability guideline and including but not limited to WP:NBIO. Given the article's 11 year existence on en.wp, it would appear to me that this article should be tested at a deletion discussion. That said, I would have no objection to a WP:G11 outcome. As always, more than happy to be proven wrong. Shirt58 (talk) 🦘 10:02, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Although I created the entry, upon relfection this subject doesn't really meet WP:ENT because their productions were just amateur dramatics productions staged in a local theatre with an amateur cast. They've managed to drum up a bit of coverage in their local press, but nothing that could satisfy say C3 of WP:CREATIVE because that's symbiotic with general notability. Furthermore, her academic chairs don't satisfy anything approaching WP:NACADEMIC and the verification for on-campus postings is actually quite shakey. Obviously, WP:GNG is a far cry here becuase the sources focus entirly on these local theatre productions. Eichhornia Crassipes (talk) 08:38, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

WP:SPORTBASIC clearly states that Sports biographies must include at least one reference to a source providing significant coverage of the subject, excluding database sources. which is not the case here. Getting to the final of the Bulgarian International Championship is not even close to meeting WP:NBAD, not to be confused with the higher level Bulgarian Open (badminton). Hello, I apologize for my untimely response to this discussion. In regards to your issue with the article concerning the general notability guideline I think this article actually meets the standard. The sources provided are independent and are from publications which are known for fact checking. The only issue that it might pose for notability may be in the issue of the subject having significant coverage. Individually the sources on their own do not give in-depth coverage of the subject however, Wikipedia biography (WP:BIO) says that multiple independent sources can be put together to demonstrate notability, which I feel was demonstrated in the article. Just the reduction of Kardashian related articles alone would probably measurably reduce the world's CO2 production for maintaining them. Alas to all the worthy scientists that have articles, that they must slum with the significant others of celebs who get 10x more coverage and become celebs themselves, not to mention minor British royals who literally have done nothing except get photographed.--Milowenthasspoken 19:57, 18 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

  • Delete - I agree with Lady Lotus's analysis of the sources. Yes, there are a lot, but the vast majority relate to Bongiovi's relationships to his fiancee or father, and notability is not inhereited. Without the early life and personal life material, all that this article says about Bongiovi is that he may appear in two as yet unreleased films. The point of WP:GNG is to ensure that sufficient encyclopedic material can be written about the subject of an article; an article which consists largely of personal information is not encycopedic. Appears to be OR; I can't find mention of this term in any scholarly musical journals; appears to be a trope in legends or mythical stories, nothing related to music. Sourcing used is iffy, most don't appear RS. Oaktree b (talk) 04:50, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Keep: As someone who created that article, I may be biased. But I still do believe that the article is reasonably and sufficiently sourced. Of course, it isn't an A+ plus article when it comes to sources, but then again more sources will come as the article is still in its infancy stages. The Google Books source on the page is reliable and somewhat academic, and should be accepted. About "nothing related to music", that is agreeable. Maybe we should, instead, link the article to film, fads and/or pop culture wiki projects (if not music). You are right that its foundation isn't based on music theory, so maybe we should place it under the WikiProject Film project. - Yucalyptus (talk) 06:58, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I can't find sourcing for this person, the sources used appear typical celebrity fluff pieces using Gtranslate. Not meeting GNG, likely PROMO. Oaktree b (talk) 04:46, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Keep : Nominator says, he can't finding sourcing for the subject and he says the sources are fluff pieces using gtranslate ? and says doesn't meet GNG. Here are the reasons why its wrong and the article should be kept.
Reply to each section :

"Can find sources" - There are around 6 unique big length article all from reliable and independent secondary news sources all from reliable and reputed newspapers and magazines like International Business Times, Malayala Manorama, Vanitha, Onmanorama, Mathrubhumi etc talking about the subject. So it's irrelevant to tell that "can't find sources".

"Sources are not fluff pieces with and without using gtranslate" - There are 3 english news articles all detailed articles and secondary news sources, one from International Business Times and two from Onmanorama which doesn't need any Gtranslate and 3 other Malayalam detailed article secondary sources from Malayala Manorama, Vanitha and Mathrubhumi, all written by journalists as listed in these article and this detailed articles are no way fluff pieces.

"Meets GNG" - The International Business Times article https://www.ibtimes.co.in/kerala-showing-hesitance-accept-lgbt-community-says-top-makeup-artist-840767 is a detailed featured secondary news article about the subject , talking only about him in detail, similar is the case with 2 Onmanorama articles and additionally there are 3 very detailed and featured article secondary sources from Malayala Manorama, Vanitha and Mathrubhumi which makes the article pass GNG .

"Not PROMO" - The news references listed from International Business Times is written by journalist named Nirmal Narayanan . 2 Onmanorama articles are written by journalists Anagha Jayan E and Padmakumar K respectively. The Malayala Manorama article is written by journalist Deepthi Pellishery, The Mathrubhumi article is a special feature . Which proves that this is definetly not promo.

This is going to seem a bit ironic, given the article's claims, but this does not appear to meet WP:GNG, WP:NWEB or other relevant SNGs. The included sources are a couple of TechCrunch articles and an archived primary blog post. Source search has not been productive, but that may be due to the name being ambiguous (searching for "golden.com" in quotes mostly yields results from the site itself, and a few unrelated hits)

That aside, this article reads more like a pitch for the site than an encyclopedic article. It was successfully PRODed before claiming lack of notability. ASUKITE 02:30, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I keep looking at this category tree and I can't make sense of it, especially the relationship between the terms 'nobles/nobility', 'princes of/in', 'royalty', and 'rulers of'. We are doing many simultaneous CfRs on Kievan Rus', all of which I support individually, but I'm kind of losing the bigger picture. I guess I'll just have to wait for the dust to settle. I think I'll wait with nominating more until the present ones have been completed. Nederlandse Leeuw (talk) 20:09, 13 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Category:Heads of State of Estonia[edit]

Nominator's rationale: WP:C2D main article State Elder of Estonia, which I moved per Talk:State Elder of Estonia#Move suggestion that nobody had acted upon for 15 years, and because State Elder was used way more often in the main article itself than Head of State, and because Wikipedians don't see that 'Heads of State of Estonia' is a title rather than a position (a mistake I initially also made, because the only difference is that State is written with a capital S) by making Category:Presidents of Estonia a subcategory instead of a sibling. State Elder / Head of State and President are both titles for the position of a head of state. On an etymological note, en:wikt:vanem#Estonian means (1) parent (2) elder, leader, chieftain, en:wikt:riik (genitive riigi) means (1) state, country, polity (2) government (mostly the Estonian government), so rather than "Head of State", it also makes more sense to translate Riigivanem as "State Elder" (or "State Parent"; note that "elders" in English originally meant "parents" or "ancestors", just like en:wikt:Eltern in German and en:wikt:ouders in Dutch still do). There is no Estonian equivalent meaning for "head" in vanem. Finally, see Elder (administrative title), where the meaning of elder in the sense of "older" or "oldest" is used, and vanem is also translated as "State Elder". Nederlandse Leeuw (talk) 05:56, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Alt rename + new subcat rationale: in order to not leave a hole in the heads of state by country tree. Nederlandse Leeuw (talk) 06:54, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
PS: I intend to CfR Category:Rulers of Estonia for a rename to Category:Heads of state of Estonia (lowercase s) hereafter in order to correct the category trees, which are currently a mess exactly because people have been mistaking this category (failing to spot the capital S) for a generic function rather than a historic title that only existed between 1920 and 1937 and is now obsolete. (The renamed category might also include Category:Dukes of Estonia). But, one step at a time. Cheers, Nederlandse Leeuw (talk) 06:01, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Category:Empresses and imperial consorts of Ethiopia[edit]

Nominator's rationale: WP:C2B WP:C2C parent Category:Empresses consort. The only empress regnant of Ethiopia there has ever been is Zewditu, so we can take her out (she is already in Category:Empresses regnant). The only non-female imperial consort there has ever been is Zewditu's husband Gugsa Welle, who is currently not in the category. This clarifies, simplifies, and standardises the category's name, purposes and contents. In addition, parents Category:Rulers of Ethiopia and Category:Women rulers in Africa should be removed, as they do not apply to any category members (except Zewditu, whom I propose to remove). Nederlandse Leeuw (talk) 03:18, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Category:Radio stations licensed before 1923 and still broadcasting[edit]

Nominator's rationale: Per WP:NONDEFINING (WP:ARBITRARYCAT)
I read 1922 in radio, 1923 in radio, and 1924 in radio in vain trying to understand this seemingly arbitrary cutoff point. If this is deleted, we'll still have List of oldest radio stations. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:01, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Category:Plants used in Ayurveda[edit]

Nominator's rationale: Per WP:NONDEFINING (WP:OCASSOC similar to WP:PERFCAT)
Ayurveda is an alternative medicine system originating in India that recommends diets and herbs for health. Liquorice, Long pepper and Myrrh mention this association in passing while Aloe, Alfalfa and Rose don't mention it at all. The Clove article says that spice is used in pumpkin pies, curries, baked hams and cigarettes but we don't have categories for those uses because it would create clutter at the bottom of the article. - RevelationDirect (talk) 00:01, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

User:Lowercase sigmabot III/config[edit]

The first template is meant to be an alternative name for the auto-archiving template under the current bot's name, and the second is an unlikely double namespace mistake. However, according to the top of this page and the source code, only the exact page name User:MiszaBot/config is recognised, meaning both of these redirects will never actually trigger automatic archiving from the bot, and therefore should be deleted as unhelpful. • Pelmeen10, this redirect is effectively an {{R from move}}, as it appears to have been the title of the target article between November last year and the day before you started this discussion. I don't think it's likely there would be consensus for deletion now, but that would be much easier to achieve once the other list article is created and the redirect becomes ambiguous. Would you like to withdraw this nomination now and then start a new one once the situation changes? – Uanfala (talk) 13:08, 21 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
No. Why wait for something inevitable? These three [15] [16] [17] were already speedy deleted for the same reason. This is the last one standing. Pelmeen10 (talk) 13:21, 21 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • Keep until ambiguous. [2] and [3] were incorrect speedy deletions as CSD:R3 does not apply to redirects created as a result of a page move. [1] is a more complex case (J1 vs J2) and involving a histmerge of the target, it was not deleted for the same rason. Jay 💬 13:30, 21 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Early 2023 execution of a Ukrainian prisoner of war[edit]

In March 2023, a video of a Ukrainian soldier being executed by Russian forces appeared. He was first identified as someone else before being recognized as Oleksandr Matsievskyi. During that period of uncertainty, this title was chosen. Further, as information appeared, it turned out Matsievskyi was killed in December 2022. And also, arguably in "early 2023" as well (March), another Ukrainian captured soldier was killed, see Beheading of Szerhij Pataki. So this redirect is problematic.

Some users may believe that Matsievskyi being killed in 2022 means this redirect would be valid for Pataki. Technically yes, but I don't expect readers to know so many details of these brutal executions, with so much conflicting info having appeared. Most readers would identify these murders with the date of the release of their videos (March 2023 and April 2023). A reader might not know what to expect when taken to "Early 2023 execution of a Ukrainian prisoner of war". Super Ψ Dro 07:45, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Summer 2022 beheading of a Ukrainian prisoner of war[edit]

In 11 April 2023, a video showing the beheading of a living Ukrainian soldier was released in pro-Russian media. His identity was unknown (and I chose this title for the article believing it would stay that way) and the date of his murder was too, but it was assumed to be the summer of last year. Turns out however that yesterday it was revealed that the soldier was Szerhij Pataki and that he was murdered actually in March 2023. So, this title is now inaccurate. I just started updating Discworld (world) and was trying to reference and link to Cheery Littlebottom assuming she'd also have an entry in Ankh-Morpork City Watch after I saw the one on Captain Carrot. I was annoyed to learn it was empty and just redirected back there via see also. When I checked to see if she had a standalone article I saw the redirect and discussion here. I think the redirect should be pointed to Ankh-Morpork City Watch#Sergeant Cheery Littlebottom and, since it's currently empty, that subsection be significantly expanded so it doesn't just two step redirect you to Discworld (world). • Retarget both to the existing section Ankh-Morpork_City_Watch#Sergeant_Cheery_Littlebottom, which is no longer completely empty now that I've expanded it with one very short sentence. Given that the article has decent-size sections on the other characters, and that Ms Littlebottom appears to be a core character, I expect that this section is unlikely to be removed. – Uanfala (talk) 12:48, 21 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Genital sex[edit]

Target term not mentioned in the article; the title could refer to any of various sex acts that involve genitals. A previous RfD for the redirect suggested targeting to the current target, but seeing that the target is not mentioned... I suggest either disambiguating or deleting. • Keep. Plausible search term. Primary sexual characteristics mentioned at target page include anatomy of internal/external genitalia, which "genital sex" seems to be used for; see Google Scholar search results with certain partial matches omitted. —Sangdeboeuf (talk) 00:57, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • Comment: disambiguation is used when a term is mentioned at multiple target pages. Search results for "genital sex" show the phrase being used for either sexual characteristics, as above, or for sexual intercourse. However, Sexual intercourse does not use the phrase "genital sex", so a disambiguation link to that article wouldn't be very helpful. —Sangdeboeuf (talk) 22:01, 28 March 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Kang Zhan[edit]

Not mentioned in the target article, leaving the connection between the redirect and the target article's subject unclear. Steel1943 (talk) 23:51, 4 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Deletion review[edit]

Allen Holub[edit]

Allen Holub (talk|edit|history|logs|links|watch) (XfD|restore)

This article was deleted for lack of notability, in particular because nobody found any book reviews. But I have found various book reviews:

  • [18] "Holub's Taming Java Threads contains some nice techniques for getting the most out of thread programming. I'm not sure if it's a necessary resource, though."
  • [19] (Holub on Patterns) "The book distinguishes itself from other books on design patterns by taking implementation as the center of its discussion. [...] Any reader in the Java world could definitely benefit from reading the book."

Specifically for "Compiler design in C", I found numerous reviews:

  • [20] "A large book [...] Quite well written, too, though it has a lot of errors."
  • [21] - not sure what the review says, but [22] says "all titles reviewed are recommended."
  • [23] - again, not sure what it says, but the snippets I can see seem positive
  • [24] - some review, can't tell what it says
  • [25] - "The authoritative reference for anyone who needs to write compilers"
  • [26] - "Holub is one of those authors with a bent towards optimizing performance. In this book, he covers a whole smorgasbord of techniques and tricks that will speed up a compiler."

It seems from [27] that the rest of his books were published in the 1980s so are difficult to find reviews for online, but hopefully it is clear that his "Compiler design in C" book has had a significant amount of influence. Mathnerd314159 (talk) 06:12, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]

  • Closing admin comments: The AfD was a simple unanimous "delete", so I doubt there is any question about the propriety of my close. None of the reviews mentioned in the DRV request were in the article or discussed during the AfD. So I have no objection to allowing creation of a new article at this title using new sources; it would presumably be quite different from what was deleted. In that circumstance this probably didn't need a DRV, but since the requirement to consult the closer has been deprecated, this is my first opportunity to give that advice. --RL0919 (talk) 06:36, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • I'd suggest writing a new version, which you don't need anyone's permission for. If you'd like us to restore the original version to draft space for you to work on then we can do that. However it was quote short (184 words), it didn't mention anything about compiler design (it was more interested in his work as a software trainer), and it read more like his personal website than an encyclopedia article. It also only cited two sources, his personal website and a profile on the website of a university he used to teach at. Hut 8.5 11:12, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
  • Endorse. Some new information has come to light since the deletion that potentially justifies there being an article on this topic, beyond what was discussed in the AfD, but as the deleted page does not have meaningful content worth restoring, the page should stay deleted, and a brand new version can be started.—Alalch E. 11:21, 22 April 2023 (UTC)Reply[reply]
