Gender-Equality Index (GEI)

Invest in a more equal future

The Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index (GEI) tracks the performance of public companies committed to disclosing their efforts to support gender equality through policy development, representation and transparency.

The demand for data transparency, standardization and performance of corporate Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors is at an all-time high. Quantifying the social element of a company’s ESG data has become critical in tying links of human capital to financial materiality.

The Bloomberg Gender-Equality Index marks the first step on a company’s journey towards equality.

The GEI is evolving

Over the past seven years, the Bloomberg GEI has helped drive global focus on gender equality in the workplace. Now, with ESG top of mind for both companies and investors, the way we gather data for the Index is shifting from a survey-based process to one that relies on data that companies publicly disclose. To learn more about the transition – and what it means for companies that have previously participated in the GEI – please refer to our recent GEI KPI notice.
