Apply for event funding: Great Yukon Summer

On Yukon Time: Great Yukon Summer Edition 

This is a one time funding opportunity in support of public events and festivals in Yukon taking place between June 21 and September 30, 2021. It is part of the Great Yukon Summer 2021 initiative.

Available funding

Eligible applicants may receive up to 80 per cent of eligible expenses, to a maximum or $15,000. A minimum of $250,000 of funding is available.

This fund is for public events held in Yukon between June 21 and September 30, 2021.

Eligibility

All groups who are proposing a new or existing public event that will be held in Yukon between June 21 and September 30, 2021. Existing events must demonstrate a new or expanded component for the use of the Great Yukon Summer funding. Examples could include: larger size, expanded scope or reduced barriers to participation.

These groups can include:

  • non-profit societies;
  • industry and community associations;
  • First Nations and municipal governments;
  • collectives; and
  • Yukon businesses.

All groups must be based in Yukon. Individuals cannot apply. Only one project will be funded per group.

Events can include, but are not limited to:

  • live music;
  • workshops or art demonstrations;
  • sporting events;
  • recreational events;
  • festivals;
  • performances; and
  • culinary events.

Eligible expenses

Eligible expenses include:

  • artistic fees and expenses, except as noted in limitations (see below);
  • administration fees and expenses that are directly related to the project, except as noted in limitations (administration costs must be clearly itemized in budget);
  • production expenses. For example:
    • venue costs;
    • materials and project supplies;
    • transportation;
    • equipment rental;
    • permits; and
    • catering.
  • promotion expenses; and
  • other costs directly associated with the project.

Limitations to funding

Projects and expenses not eligible for funding include:

  • private events;
  • fundraisers;
  • religious activities;
  • expenses accrued prior to June 21, 2021;
  • capital expenditures;
  • ongoing costs that will result from the project;
  • expenses not directly related to the project.

If a collective is applying, a member of that same collective cannot receive fees from this fund.

Only one project will be funded per applicant.

Application deadline

The deadline to apply is June 18, 2021 at 4:30 p.m.

All applications must be received by the deadline to be considered.

Late applications may be considered if funding remains.

Conditions of funding

The Government of Yukon Conflict of Interest Policy is considered during the assessment and administration of funding.

Applicants must declare that they do not owe any debts to the Government of Yukon.

All events must take place in Yukon between June 21 and September 30, 2021.

Payments

Transfer Payment Agreements between the Government of Yukon and successful applicants outline the terms of funding, payment schedule and reporting requirements. The schedule for payment is in accordance with the Government of Yukon Transfer Payment Policy.

Information collection

The Department of Tourism and Culture collects information from successful applicants on project outcomes and prepares reports with aggregate information to be submitted as part of the departmental budgeting process. Information collected and reported includes quantitative statistics, such as audience attendance and number of venues, as well as qualitative feedback and evaluation.
