The best way to protect your pet is to bring it with you, so include your pet in your family emergency plan. Evacuation shelters will only accept service animals. Plan an alternate location for your pets, such as a hotel, boarding centre, animal clinic or with friends.
Remember that pets need a 72-hour emergency kit with essential supplies, too.
