Were all of these sites "monumental" in their original use? Or are they rather a list of archeological sites of varying types? --Kevlar (talk • contribs) 03:35, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
I tend to agree with your edit and point. I think it kinda started out as pretty monumntal type sites when created by another editor, but as it expanded, and more sites were added for their importance not so much for their monumentality, guess you get the picture. Pre-Columbian era is refered as the time before Cristopher Columbus discovered the Americas in October 12th, 1492.
When Cristopher Columbus arrived in the Americas, Inca and Aztec cultures still there were and when Inca and Aztec cultures there were the United States and Canada there weren’t. - 186.204.82.100 (talk) 21:54, 5 July 2018 (UTC).
Most of the terms we use for pre-Columbian regions and cultures are anachronistic. If we eliminated "North America" in the article, what would we call the region. The article is divided into a list of regions, "Southeastern", "Northeastern", etc. whose names are just as anachronistic as "North America". What would you suggest we use as a replacement for those terms? It is generally only when we get to the level of tribes, chiefdoms, or towns, that we have an inkling of what the people called themselves, often depending on how much we trust European transcriptions of names. - Donald Albury 00:03, 6 July 2018 (UTC) Edited 00:09, 6 July 2018 (UTC)
