This is a chronological summary of the major events of the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing and venues near neighboring towns of Yanqing and Chongli in the People's Republic of China.[1] The first matches in the group stages of the curling events are scheduled for 2 February. The opening ceremony is scheduled two days later on 4 February. The last day of competition and the closing ceremony is planned for 20 February.[2]

The games are scheduled to feature 109 events in 7 different sports, encompassing a total of 15 disciplines.[3] New events include men's and women's big air freestyle skiing, women's monobob, mixed team competitions in freestyle skiing aerials, ski jumping, and snowboard cross, and the mixed relay in short track speed skating.[4]

About 87 teams are expected to participate, with Haiti and Saudi Arabia making their Winter Olympics debut.[citation needed] As a result of the 2020 ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport on the Russian doping scandal, Russian athletes are competing in both the 2020 Summer Olympics and the 2022 Winter Olympics under the acronym "ROC" after the name of the Russian Olympic Committee, and under the flag of the Russian Olympic Committee.[5]
