Big Air Shougang is a sports stadium located in the Shijingshan District in Beijing, China, built to host the big air events of the 2022 Winter Olympics.[1]

Construction[edit]

The venue was constructed on top of a former steel mill of Shougang Group, which was shut down before the 2008 Summer Olympics due to concerns over air pollution.[2] The construction of the venue began in 2018, and was completed on November 1, 2019.[3] The venue will be permanent, and be used for various sporting competition, becoming the world's first ever permanent big air venue.[3][4]

2022 Winter Olympics[edit]

For the 2022 Winter Olympics, the facility will be the only snow sports venue in Beijing, along with one of two new competition venues in the zone. There will be four medal events contested here: The freestyle big air competition for men and women, along with the snowboarding big air competition for men and women.[5]
