Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, ongoing anti-war demonstrations and protests broke out across India. The protests organised various type of movement like rallies, demonstrations, humanity chains etc. Many protesters are arrested by the government. The protests also demanded to the Indian government, safe evacuation of Indian students from Ukraine.
Protests[edit]
- On 25 February, After Russia launched military operation against Ukraine, thousands of normal students of Velammal Matriculation School demonstrate in Chennai city against the Russia and offered special prayers for the peace.[1]
- On 25 February, Families of Indian Students stuck in Ukraine protest outside of the Russian Embassy in India, the families of Students protest with the banner Stand With Ukraine.[2]
- On 26 February, All India Students Association organised a rally in the banner of Citizens March for Peace at Delhi, the protesters protest in the demand of End Russian war on Ukraine and Stop the Nato's expansion in the Europe.[3][4][5] Also CPIML, AIPF, AICCTU and RYA joined this rally.
- On 27 February, SUCI(Communist) organised a anti-war rally in Kolkata. These protesters also burned the idols of Putin and Joe Biden.[6][7]
- On 2 March, All India Students Association organised an anti-war demonstration in Delhi.[8]
- On 3 March, All India Democratic Students Organisation West Bengal state committee organised a huge anti-war rally in Kolkata.[9][10]
- On 3 March, AISA Kolkata District committee organised an anti-war demonstration at Moulali More, Kolkata.[11] The protests demonstrated for the demanded of Stop The War and Bring back students and citizens immediately.[12][13]
- On 6 March, All India Students Association, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation and Communist Party of Bharat jointly demonstrate anti-war protest at Belgharia . Two AISA activists and one CPIML(L) activist were arrested from these demonstration.[14]
- On 7 th March, AISA, MKP, CPIML(L), CPB jointly march a huge anti-war rally from Belgharia Station to Kamarhati Municipality.
