This article documents the chronology and epidemiology of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and is responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic, in April 2022. The first human cases of COVID-19 were identified in Wuhan, China, in December 2019.

  • New Zealand has reported 13,524 new cases, bringing the total number to 672,712. There are 15,911 recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 572,912. There are 15 deaths, bringing the death toll to 355. There are 99,486 active cases (308 at the border and 99,178 in the community).[7]
  • Singapore has reported 5,010 new cases, bringing the total number to 1,101,438. Two new deaths were reported, bringing the death toll to 1,270.[8]
  • South Korea has reported 280,273 new daily cases, bringing the total number to 13,375,904.[citation needed]
  • Vietnam has reported 72,555 new daily cases, bringing the total number to 7,685,084.[citation needed]
  • American singer/songwriter Miley Cyrus has tested positive for COVID-19.[9]
  • Takahiro Norimoto, a Japanese Professional Baseball pitcher of Tohoku Eagles of Sendai were tested positive infection for COVID-19, as resulting Eagles postpone two games until April 3.[citation needed]

  • The Canadian Province Of Ontario has reported 3,233 new cases.[10][11][12]
  • Germany has reported 196,456 new daily cases, bringing the total number to 21,554,495.[citation needed]
  • Malaysia has reported 14,692 new cases, bringing the total number to 4,234,087. There are 20,383 recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 3,997,786. There are 56 deaths, bringing the death toll to 35,069.[13]
  • Nauru has reported its first two cases of COVID-19.[14]
  • New Zealand has reported 11,634 new cases, bringing the total number to 684,374. There are 14,215 recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 587,127. There are 16 deaths, bringing the death toll to 330. There are 96,917 active cases (164 at the border and 96,753 in the community).[15]
  • Singapore has reported 4,563 new cases, bringing the total number to 1,106,001. Two new deaths were reported, bringing the death toll to 1,272.[16]
  • South Korea has reported 264,171 new daily cases, bringing the total number to 13,640,075.[citation needed]

  • K-Pop singer Wendy of Red Velvet has tested positive for COVID-19. All of the Red Velvet members are now infected with the virus.[17]
