.cl is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Chile (including Easter Island). It was created in 1987 and is administered by the University of Chile.[1] Registration of second-level domains under this TLD is open to anyone, however, foreign registrants must provide a domestic contact with a RUN, the Chilean national identification number.

Registration of names including accented letters (á, é, í, ó, ú), ñ and ü was opened up in 2005.[3]

Since April 2011, it supports DNSSEC, the zone is signed and so any domain that wants to sign their registers can do it.[4]

Microsoft uses it in a domain hack for its social networking service so.cl.

IPv6 support[edit]

In the Hurricane Electric report from May 2012, it appears as IPv6 enabled domain and with nameservers in IPv6.[5]
