- January 1 – Egypt formally joins the BRICS group.[1]
- January 3 - The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy announce an increase in the price of Electricity, Electricity prices are increased by 7-20%.[2]
- January 15 - Clashes Occur on the Egyptian-Israeli border, 20 armed men arrive at the Egyptian border, Israel Defence Forces opened fire on the gunmen and observed several casualties, The IDF announced that a soldier was wounded during an exchange of fire with gunmen on the Egyptian border.[3]
