Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP)

The purpose of the Access to Information Act is to provide every Canadian citizen or permanent resident with the right of access to records (in any format) held under the control of a government institution, subject to certain specific and limited exceptions.

The Privacy Act protects the privacy of all Canadian citizens and permanent residents with respect to personal information held by a government institution and provides each individual with a right of access to that information.

Our website describes our ATIP responsibilities and provides contacts, downloadable request forms and other related information.

Our mandate is to implement and administer the Access to Information Act and the Privacy Act and to ensure that legislative and central agency policies and procedures are respected within the Office of the Registrar of Lobbyists.
