Roles and Responsibilities
The Policy on Learning, Training and Development as well as the related policy instruments developed by the Public Service Human Resource Management Agency of Canada supports deputy heads in meeting their responsibilities for learning, training and development under the Financial Administration Act. The Canada School of the Public Service (CSPS) is responsible for design, delivery and assessment of required training courses and programs. Every organization affected by the Policy and Directive must appoint a required training coordinator who is responsible for identifying trainees, coordinating registration, communicating training requirements, and tracking the successful completion of training in their organization.
Designated superiors are responsible for assisting required training coordinators in supporting employees and ensuring that they complete their required training within a reasonable period of time.
Employees, supervisors, managers, executives, and functional specialists affected by the Policy are responsible for ensuring they get the training they need as soon as possible.
