On April 11, 2006, the Government introduced in Parliament its proposed Federal Accountability Act and released a Federal Accountability Action Plan.

As a result of the Parliamentary review of the Lobbyists Registration Act undertaken in the Spring of 2001, the Government prepared and tabled the necessary legislation (Bill C-15, An Act to amend the Lobbyists Registration Act) to build on the recommendations of the Parliamentary Committee.

  Bill C-15 received Royal Assent by written declaration on June 11, 2003, and came into force on June 20, 2005.
