Bert Tatham was on his way home from Afghanistan where he was working on an anti-poppy campaign for the Afghan Ministry of Counter-Narcotics. After stopping in Dubai, he was detained when customs officials found two poppy bulbs in his luggage and trace amounts of powdered hashish in the lining of his jeans pocket. This led to eight months in prison, during which time he says he was abused. He joined The Current to discuss his experience.
